First spring flowers!

Actually, I don’t know what these are.  I didn’t plant them; they pop up every spring in my lawn.

This is one of the better ideas I’ve had lately, I think. Fairy lights capped by cloth morning glories.

They’re LED lights, so they don’t burn hot, and the fabric shouldn’t be a fire hazard. No glue involved, so far: I detached the flowers from their stems and widened the opening at their base a bit with a pocket knife, then just pulled them on from the connector side of the bulb. The bulbs are larger than the standard light and are more pinecone-shaped, so they keep the flower from sliding off.

It would have been better with a natural-white colored light set, and I can’t decide whether or not I like the facets on the bulbs. I’ll be adding some leaves to the green wire between flowers just as soon as I can find the appropriate glue.

Barlow columbine, in better bloom.

But barlow columbine is by far the prettiest.  I need to take some photos now that they’ve opened more completely.
